Are the NST-2018 & NST-2118 batteries and chargers computable or interchangeable with each other ???

Have NST-2018 trimmer/edger with 18volt battery & charger,also just brought a new NST-2118 trimmer/edger also with 18volt battery & charger. Both battery's look the same & both chargers seem to fit both batterys. My question is are these battery's & chargers in fact interchangeable or is there something different about them that could cause me a problem ???
