LOOOOve it best bang for my buck
I live in the woods in east tx.My husband is disabled, Im 58 I need something light and easy to manage to cut up fallen trees...I ve got huge burn piles every fall/winter to burn, this foots the bill I would suggest buying another battery and another chain when you purchase it if your going to use it a lot and haven't got anyone proficient at chain sharpening. Wonderful tool as was and is my electric alligator loppers. Also here in east tx we have ice storms and I have been trapped in here for days with no electricity because trees were blocking my way out with the truck now I can cut my way out and this is small and light enough fort me to carry in my car as sometimes I may have to cut my way back in when I come home from work...wonderful tool

lightweight, easy for a woman to manage everything the maintenance the charging of the battery, the changing of the chain

that the battery runs out before I do but I will buy another back up battery...wonderful product very pleased.

Same results as a regular gas chainsaw.
I love this little saw, I have Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis, can't afford to hire a crew for yard clean up, this allows me to still be active, and work in my yard, I recently planned on building a Greenhouse, I was able to go out on my own and clear the land. Was a gift from a good friend, and family made fun of it, but once I used it, I really didn't care what they thought, the end result was the same as if a gas chainsaw was used. Definitely recommend to anyone!

I am so excited about this saw, I own a small Craftman Saw, I used it once and really nervous of kickback, I know any saw can kickback, I just feel I have more control of this saw.

    Not a thing

A fantastic little saw. I could not opperate without it.
I have a business growing and selling live Christmas trees. The customer chooses their tree and I, or my wife, cut it down for them to take away. Hand saws are too slow and gas powered chain saws too noisy, smokey and hard to start. The B&D Cordless chain saw is exactly right for the job. I use it to cut down trees as tall as 6 metres (20 feet) with no problems at all. My customers all comment on what a great little saw it is. I am not the only person who thinks they are great as my first B&D cordless chainsaw was stolen from out of my garage. I immediately bought another one. Another great thing about my 18V saw is I also have an 18V B&D cordless drill and the batteries are inter-changeable so at Christmas time when I am using the saw continuously I can put the drill battery on while the saw battery is charging. Perfect. Thanks Black & Decker. I thoroughly recommend your products.

Lightweight, powerful, cuts easy and well, simple to use and maintain.

    Works fine but....
First, I believe that those that could not cut with this have never used a chainsaw. This summer I cut four cord of maple and beech up to 6" diameter with this using one chain (never sharpened) without any issue...except that the battery life is poor and the charger is very, very slow...if you can afford multiple batteries or don't have a lot of cutting to do at one time, this is fine. I have worked in the woods and own several gas saws but for small jobs, this is my "go to"...if you found it would not cut perhaps you have put the chain on backwards or are trying to cut a rock.

    cuts small stuff very quickly

    short battery life...poor charger

This is horrible. Will try to return ASAP. Can't cut a one inch branch.

So under powered I can't cut a twig without chain stopping.

    Easy to use and effective
This tool is effective and lightweight. It is easy to use. I have COPD and become winded quickly using heavy equipment. This is easy for me to use.

    Ease of use and durability.

Battery takes a long time to charge.

Great saw when used as it was intended.
I have used this saw on several occassions and it has worked very well. I took down and limbed an entire, sizable apple tree in one hour on a single battery with this chainsaw. It also cut through a 7-8 inch shrub root on a dulling chain (used it the entire day cutting shrub limbs) fairly well. This is a great value on a relatively low maintenance chainsaw and is perfect for occassional, light use by any homeowner.

compatible with my other cordless B&D tools. cuts well, decent run time.

    no complaints.

Good little saw for small branches and yard work once I fixed it.
I have many hours with gas chain saws. Now I am retired and thought a small light battery operated saw would fit my needs for convenience. Right out of the box I had trouble with the chain stalling as soon as I started a cut but the motor would keep running, By putting only very light pressure I managed to cut through a couple of 1" branches. I put it in the shed as useless a year ago. Last week I needed to do some yard clean up and tried the saw again. Same problem. I took the saw apart and found that the gear that drove the chain sprocket was slipping on the shaft. There is no keyway or pin to prevent it from slipping. I took the gear assembly to a machine shop and had a 1/8" dia X 1/4" long pin installed between the shaft and gear. This locked the gear on the shaft. I put the saw back together and it now works as it was desgned and I am pleased with it. I am not pleased with Black and Decker or their design engineers. This was way to basic to be overlooked by their engineers.

After fixing it I am pleased with the convenience of using it for light duty, when I need it, without starting problems or having to make a trip for fresh gas. I have two batteries and keep them plugged in as recommended. That is more than enough for my needs. I am happy that I don't need to mess with the gasoline for infrequent use. The batteries also get used for my edge trimmer. The liberal amount of oil for the chain is not a problem for me since it is necessary to keep the chain cutting properly. It is a chain saw.

Reliability out of the box. Made in China. I would gladly pay more for a quality product made in the USA. For that I can only give it 3 stars.

    Extremely Dissatisfied
I bought this to take care of a medium sized apple tree branch, and it didn't make a dent. The chain will not stay on long enough to do any cutting. I got the chain to cut about 1/4 in. into the main brach which is about 6 in. in diameter. My thinking was that maybe that branch was too thick so I tried cutting a smaller branch that is about 1 1/2 in. in diameter and it again only cut about 1/4 in. in before the chain popped off. I tried putting all my body weight into it to see if that helped cut, but it was no use.

    light, easy to assemble

Does not cut, chain falls off frequently

Not as good as expected from B&D
The item out of the box felt cheap and light. I used it for the first time and only got 40 cuts out of the inital charge on the battery. It was weak and had a hard time cutting 1" brances. I don't think I would recommend this to anyone else.

The price and was lightweight, almost felt like a toy.

The power was less than expected
