Should NOT have had to buy it
Haven't used it yet, but I should NOT have had to buy it because the plastic handle on my old one broke and a replacement wasn't available.

Longer than 22" I had, and that it rotates and locks in position. It also is supposed to cut up to 3/4" rather than 1/2" that older one did....will see about that.

I do not look forward to it "blowing crap" into my face as reported by another user.....will see for myself.

    Light and agil
Purchased the HH2455 to replace my old B&D HedgeHog that had a broken handle. The new one is lighter and longer than my old. I used it for the first time today. The light weight made for easy hedge cutting.

The extra length cuts a wider path. The lighter weight is a plus. The trigger lock works fine. The cord management suggestion in the manual works the best. The slimmer profile is great too.

Nothing to dislike about this product yet.

Impressive Rotating Design Does Not Function Properly.
This unit has good balance and is not to heavy either. The cutting action is excellent for an electric hedge trimmer. The only problem experienced while using this unit was the 180 degree rotating feature. The unit would not work properly after rotating 90 degrees or 180 degrees from the original horizontal cutting position. The trigger switch would also sometimes stick in the on position even if the unit was not cutting or working.

The cutting action is excellent for an electric hedge trimmer. Much more powerful than a battery powered unit. No need to recharge batteries after using this unit. This unit is well balanced and light weight.

The 180 degree rotating handle was not functioning properly. The trigger switch would stick in the on position after rotating the handle and attempting to cut vertically. Sometimes the trigger switch would stick in the on position and the unit would not be getting any current or cutting action after rotating the handle from the original horizontal cutting position.

Wow! Best One I've ever used.
This new 24" rotating handle is the best I've had. I replaced two old B&D models with this one. The shivel is excellent, because it gives much better control and allows long sweeps for even cutting. The power is impressive. I haven't had to clear any snags from the cutter. And compared to my old models, this one is light to hold for me.

The swivel is a real help.

It doesn't cut the hedges unless I'm with it.

It worked good for a while
I've used many Black and Decker products since 1967. For most of those years, I've had one in my possession and never been disappointed. NO MORE! Since they went to offshore replacement junk, it just isn't the same. Repair is not an option. Replacement is the only thing. The past 3 hedge trimmers have been good for a while, then a waste. The first was a battery operated trimmer. It lasted for about 8 recharges, then the charge would not last for a half hour's operation,, then down to a few minutes. The second was corded. It just quit one day last year. I replaced it with the HH2455. I have 20 ruby loro petelum plants around my 2000sq. ft. home. That is not exactly a commercial application! It worked last fall and this spring. Now on 5Aug, the blade is flopping around in the frame.

It worked well for a while.

Why do I have to replace these units? Why won't they work for more than one season? Why can't they be repaired? SAD@

I upgraded to this electric hedge trimmer from a B&D 18" electric trimmer. It has more power, better reach, and smoother operation.
This 24" trimmer has worked as promised with the one exception that I do not attempt to cut 3/4" branches with is as it is not capable of that task. It does cut 1/2" branches well.

The trimmer smoothly and quickly trims my very large (4'-5' wide), very long (~200') and tall (~8') evergreen hedges.

As expected, this trimmer is heavier than my previous trimmer but it's improved performance and cutting speed more than compensate for that.

    smooth operation
i have the impression that its underpowered, a few more amps would give it a more robust feel. I am having trouble with the locking power switch releasing. There does not seem to be a way to hold the rear handle grip without touching the release trigger, so you are constantly relocking the power on switch. Gets to be annoying.

    gets the job done

Exhausts Directly into Eyes and Fills Them with Pollen!
This is the second corded B&D hedge trimmer I have owned. The first one was a 22 or 24 hedgehog and it lasted me a few years. When it broke (internal gears)I bought this model because it seemed to replace the older model. I have hated this since day one of buying it. I probably should have returned it then, but did not because I needed a trimmer NOW. The exhaust from the motor blows directly into your eyes. I am right handed and can not find a way to hold it naturally without it blowing the pollen from the hedge I am cutting right into my eyes. I have had the trimmer about a year and always told my wife I was going to complain. It just took this long. Beings that the item is a year old, I am considering replacing it. I will NOT be trying this brand though. The first model was great and I did not have any problems with it. I am cutting eleagnus hedge and it has alot of pollen! I do not need it blowing into my eyes!

strong enough motor. Blades cut well. Cuts larger sized branches

    Just grand
Bought my 1st B & D 18" cord trimmer in NY in the mid 90's. Still works fine. The 24" is a marvel. I'm 81 years, 5-1/2 feet and very overweight. This thing handles like a toy. I'm the 2nd owner of this house in SC.. The prior owner had a nursery and this place is loaded with shrubs. The 24" just zooms through them with no effort and I can cut level and vertical in big swaths.

Ease of handling. Its almost effortless. Haven't gotten really used to the rotating handle part but I will. If it lasts as long as my other one I can will it to one of my kids.
