    pretty easy
I ordered the black and decker weed eater and I found it very easy to set up and use. I also bought a 100ft extension cord.

It was easy to set up. Easy to use. Easy to feed the line. Easy to bump. Easy to plug in. A well made machine and proved functional.

    All Good!!!

    string won't feed
I bought this today at my local Lowe's store because of the price. I read reviews on the store site but apparently I didn't read them ALL because there is a major flaw in the line feed on this machine. I only need something to trim around my trees where my mower can't reach and also to edge around my driveway and sidewalks. I trimmed around my tree and had to feed the line. Bumping the machine as instructed didn't work so I had to pull the line until it popped and fed more line. I finished the tree and then I turned the machine over in order to edge my driveway. I didn't realize the line needed refeeding again until the edger function wasn't working. No matter what I did, it simply would NOT feed the line. I read more reviews and found out that apparently there is a defect in the line feed. I don't need the hassle of a machine that needs constant refeeding. I returned in within an hour of buying it. B/D really needs to do something about this.

    line will not feed

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT! This thing was never able to cut more than one foot of grass without the line breaking. And of course it broke inside, so you have to disassemble the thing re-thread the line and go another foot and do it all over again. Took me 30 minutes to cut a 22 foot fence line. Black and Decker used to be a quality product for the homeowner, but I shall never purchase another B&D product again. B&D should be ashamed of having their name on such an inferior product such as this. It is said that you get what you pay for. In this case all I got was a 22.00 piece of junk that is now on its way to the landfill. DO NOT BUY THIS TRIMMER. The only thing it trims is your wallet

Absolutely nothing. Wish I had never bought it!

Everything. Not worth the cost of the box it came packaged in.

    Unhappy with purchase
I bought this trimmer in 2012 after always having positive experiences with Black and Decker products. I was so disappointed. From the beginning, this product has not performed as I had expected. After a few minutes of continuous use, upon releasing the trigger, I had difficulty 'restarting'. I thought it was my power cord and changed cords and outlets. Same thing. The motor sounded as if it was struggling...almost like it was overheating. I suffered through last summer using this trimmer and put the thing back up in the shed for the winter. This year, I had high hopes that it was user error and got the trimmer back out. This past weekend, I struggled so much with the spool (stuck twine), that I finally threw the darn thing away and went and bought a Ryobi. After 5 seconds, yes, I counted, of use the twine would get stuck and once again the trigger would not stay on. VERY DISAPPOINTED with this product. I would not recommend buying this.

It was cheap. Don't waste your money. Save and buy a more expensive brand.

spool, twine, motor, trigger, not a good product

What a piece of crap. I just spent over an an hour on a job that should have taken 10 minutes: trimming along the curbing in front of my house, going around 3 trees and a rose bush, and up and down my sidewalk. IT TOOK THE ENTIRE SPOOL! I had to stop at least 15 times to rethread the spool because it broke off inside. I should have used scissors instead!!! I bought this product because of faith in the Black & Decker name. I will not buy another B&D product based on my experience with this one. DO NOT waste your money.

Nothing...it's more trouble than good. Use scissors instead, it'll save you some time.

    I regret buying this
Read the instructions, inserted the cartridge, turned it upside down and plugged it in, not noticing that the power cord was touching the trigger - the trimmer started up and ripped apart my lower leg. The line breaks constantly and I have to constantly open it up to fix the line. It's actually faster to trim the grass edges with a hedge trimmer.

It looks pretty when it's hanging in the garage.

Constantly having to fix the line because it constantly breaks off inside the trimmer. I used to automatically trust the Black & Decker brand but now I'll read the reviews on products before I buy anything with their name on it.

    Poor design
I purchased this weedeater strictly based on the price relative to other products. If I had done a little more homework I would have noticed that the max recommended line diameter is .065 which is simply too thin to be effective even for occasional use. The result of this is frequent line feeding and changing. The frustration caused by this and the cost of replacement line far exceeds the benefit of the low price tag.

    It was cheap

If I would have read reviews rather than picking up what I thought was a good deal at the time, I would have passed this over. Looks like I have the same problems as everyone else. String won't feed and you have to take it apart to pull more string every time. It seems to run fine but the string makes it a problem because we have lots of rocks and the string breaks about every 5 feet. Unfortunately I didn't keep the box or receipt either so I'm SOL

    Poor Design
Within 10 minutes of first use, noticed trimmer would operate intermittently. On 2nd use noticed it was intermittent again but by pressing the power switch on an angle I could get it to run. After awhile even that didn't work. Obviously a bad switch. Unfortunately I also did not save the receipt. Fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me. So that's the last B&D product I will buy.

In expensive - that should have been my first hint.

You get what you pay for.
