    My impression
I have owned 2 of these units over the years and the batteries go dead after about 2 years.

    I liked the many uses

Very poor quality, will not last long! I would not recommend buying this item.

Good power till the Cable pulls out
Good till the positive cable pulled out of the connector.

good starting power. Good air pressure.

can not find replacement parts. useless without the cables to jump start a car. All I have now is a very heavy expensive mediocre air pump.

Truly Awesome Product about as good as it gets
I bought this unit in 2006 while living in Seattle and I've used it constantly. I've noticed people complaining about the air nozzle connection and I agree that it is a little delicate but I always use it carefully and never had a problem with it. My truck battery went dead one time about 9 miles out of town and I hooked this to my battery with the hood close over the top and with the jump starter switch on (which your not suppose to do) and it got me home with no damage to the unit. It is October 6th 2013 and the AC charger has stopped working but it will still charge through the cigarette adapter and everything else still works so I will buy another one if their still available. This thing has lasted 7 years with normal use.I always kept the battery charged up immediately after use. The air gauge is accurate. The 400 watt inverter does what it's suppose to do. I've tried a different brand that is similar to this one but nowhere near as good in a number of ways.

I like the fact that it serve's multiple purposes. We've always found use for the 400 watt inverter in our RV. I like the fact that it's always available with plenty of power when needed thanks to the lithium battery.

I truly couldn't find any cons except for the air hose connection which common sense should tell you to be careful with. Mine lasted 7 years and is still in tact.

The Electromate 400: Beneficiary or Buffoonery!
It helped power up my low-wattage items for a needed use. The key is, do NOT try to connect your item up to a 500W electric bulb . . . use the CDLs or energy saver lightbulbs. 23W on a CDL/energy saver can act as bright as a 100W bulb across the board. Recognize that the power pack must be charged for up to practically TWO days for best results. Else, watch as those 400W dwindle down to 8W after 45 minutes.

Highly convenient, especially if your vehicle breaks down. Used when power is needed and an electrical outlet/gas generator is missing in action.

After 30 minutes, without constantly cutting the power on or off, watch as it becomes a dead battery, even if it's a lithium-ion one.

    What's Up? Compressor failed
Nice concept, but what does one do when the compressor fails? Will look to B&D to 'fix' but previous comments suggest this will be in vain.

    Concept of multi-function device

If compressor can't be fixed, spoils the value of the product big time.

    ok so far for me...
Inflator has not failed me yet - also seems to charge up nicely. I seem to be lucky not have gotten bad parts. I could see the end of the inflator breaking though. Have yet to use invertor or other functions. And yes the worklight is bright and helpful too. Those of you whose units have failed and been abandoned should list those jumper cables on EBay since the parts are hard to come by. Though I think if you could find the proper connector one could make up a pair of cables yourself or consult a bigger head at an auto parts store. Either way the cables are certainly worth $20-30 perhaps - they are worth nothing sitting in your garage. And it appears the battery can be replaced with a reseller item so at least you are not stuck with ServiceNet's evident inability to provide parts for this unit.

Multifunctionality - and I got it cheap off the dead dog shelf at Home Depot however without the jumper cables :( Gets 3 stars from me only because mine hasn't failed yet. Idea seems to be good, execution well see Cons...

Parts seem to be hard to come by - replacement jumper cables have been on backorder for almost 4 months now. Pretty sad for a unit that has poor part reliability to start with. And still appears to be on sale new at any number of venues. If you can get this unit for under $100 it might be worth it - it is certainly not worth the list price listed on the B&D website especially with the numerous perceived shortcomings with cheap parts and reliability. If you bought it new I would either scrutinize the B&D warranty carefully or just get the extended warranty the retailer may offer one of the few times the extended warranty cost would be justified let the retailer eat the product or get credit from B&D.

purchased mainly for inflator, electric standby

inflator failed after a couple uses, very expensive to fail so soon.

Compressor nozzle broke during 2nd use.
I used the air pump twice to pump up bike tires. The second time I went to use it (today), the nozzle broke. I was very disappointed and won't be buying Black and Decker again. We used the battery feature once during a blackout and that worked fine...at least it did the first time... I have owned this for about 18 months.

It's a good idea. Poor execution

It broke when I used the air pump twice.

    Great Product!
The power station worked wonderfully. I have filled several tires with it and the pump never failed. Jump started a few cars and even ran a stereo two work lights and charged my phone with this little thing. Cheap? Hardly. Poor materials? Get real! I've dropped this thing on the asphalt from my car window (apx 3ft) and the thing barely took a scratch. I take it everywhere with me. In fact I'm actually typing this review ON MY POWER STATION (my iPad was dead). It even comes with a handy Little pocket to hold the DC cord for the car. It charges usually in four hours under moderate use. I take camping, to work, to school, on picnics and pretty much everywhere I go. Bottom line, I don't know what these other reviewers did to upset this micro-behemoth of a battery pack (trust me I've had/used many other brands of them), and frankly I don't want to know but in short it's a car owners best friend!

Lasts forever! It has yet to die on me unexpectedly. The compressor works like a champ and the little light blinds you if you don't have sunglasses on (read: it's really bright). AC port is sturdy and reliable. It charges (albeit slowly) off DC while your driving!

The ONLY complaint I have is that I wish it had a few more DC and AC ports and maybe a USB slot for charging phones. THAT'S IT!!
